About Zermatt

Zermatt instantly casts its spell once you get your first glimpse of the Matterhorn and its jagged peak. This exquisitely pretty village epitomises all that is expected of a skier’s destination in Switzerland, with its high-altitude, snow-sure slopes. This car-free chocolate-box resort offers skiing for all levels and some of the best heli-skiing possibilities in Europe.

Zermatt features 250 kilometres of pistes and one of the highest ski pistes in the Alps at a sky-hugging 3,820 metres. It really will take your breath away once you take Europe’s highest mountain lift, as the air is noticeably thinner. Encircled by nine out of the ten highest mountains in Europe, Zermatt enjoys one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps. You’re guaranteed excellent snow cover from the end of November through to the end of April. If you can drag yourself away from the skiing, stroll along the main street, Bahnhofstrasse, and check out the excellent selection of cosy restaurants and high-end eateries. Head to the mountain restaurants for some of the best dining in Switzerland.
