About the Luberon
The Luberon is famed for its beautiful landscapes. In summer, it’s awash with the aromatic scent of lavender and its seemingly endless vineyards are ideal for a wine tasting experience. It has served as inspiration for famous painters ranging from Van Gogh to Cezanne. As you pop between various wineries, learn about the Impressionist art movement and the scenery – and viticulture – that inspired it!
Outdoor enthusiasts will find a wide range of activities to keep them entertained. Enjoy rustic hikes past rugged limestone cliffs, bike trails through ochre hills or kayaking on the refreshing waters of the Durance River. A gardener’s paradise, lavender fills the landscape during June and July, while sunflowers take centre stage in August.
Though undeniably rural, don’t be fooled into thinking that Luberon is a gentle backwater. Far from it: there’s a surprisingly vibrant cultural scene with museums, markets and bric-a-brac brocantes where you can pick up a variety of antiques and other curiosities.
After exploring this peaceful region of France, head back to your luxury Luberon villa for a relaxing dip in the pool. We can even arrange for a masseur to come and ease your weary muscles, right on the sun deck. Countryside retreats don’t get much more indulgent than that!
